Rescheduled Nude Beach Clean-ups – October 5 & 6

The first rescheduled AANR-NW beach clean-up will be on Saturday,
October 5 at 9:00 a.m. at Rooster Rock State Park. This is a clothing
optional event, if you are cleaning in the nude area. It is highly
suggested that you wear shoes and sun screen. Hats are also recommended
if it is very bright. Bring work gloves if you have them. All tools
and clean-up bags will be furnished. We will be working with the
Rooster Rock park staff. The Park Ranger Supervisor will have a list of
projects that includes light to heavy work. Volunteers do not have to
pay the day use fee. Tell the person in the registration booth, if it is
manned, that you are there for the clean-up. When registering for the
clean-up, you will receive a card to put in your window. MEETING
LOCATION CHANGE: Because of a cross country event at the east end of the
parking lot that morning, meet instead at the office near the
entrance. The clean-up should not last longer than around three hours,
and will be followed by a hamburger/hot dog barbeque out on the beach
where the main trail comes through the vegetation. AANR-NW will provide
table, barbeque, plates, tableware, napkins, cold water, sugar free
lemonade, burgers, hot dogs and trimmings and some dessert snacks. The
only restrooms accessible from the nude beach are located near the
parking area.

Sunday, October 6 – Sauvie Island-Collins Beach – clean-up at noon. A
parking pass is usually required and can be purchased at the store or
deli after crossing the bridge to the island but SOLVE again is
providing free day-of-event passes for those that volunteer. Restrooms
are portable toilets located in the parking area near the beach trail
openings. We will concentrate our efforts on the gravel road parking
area and litter sweeps of the beach area from nude beach opening one
(number two marked opening) to the opening marked number six. Meet on
the beach near the second nude beach opening (number 3 opening). A
potluck will be held at around 2:00 p.m. AANR-NW will supply a barbeque,
hamburgers, hot dogs and fixings, water, sugar free lemonade, plates,
tableware, napkins as well as a table and covering canopy. Bring a
folding chair/towel to sit on and dry off with as well as a potluck
item and your favorite beverage.

For your security, please do not leave any items visible in your vehicle.

We need additional volunteers at these events so that we can retain our
beach sponsorship. These legal nude beaches are unique to Oregon and we
want to continue to keep our beaches bare!!

Want to volunteer but need more info? Contact gat@aanr-nw.org for
directions, further details on these events and how to get a
complimentary Collins Beach parking pass e-mailed.

The Hall of Fame Award is the highest honor the region can award a member. It is based on extraordinary service to AANR, AANR Northwest and nudism. Paul has been a member of AANR-NW for 27 years and is a member of Hidden Springs. Paul has held almost every NW office – President, Vice President and Treasurer – and probably half the committee chairs. He has served as IA chair under at least two presidents, PR, Scholarship, Hall of Fame, Man & Woman, Finance, Convention & Facilities, and Nudescene Editor for five years and managed the bulk mailing for ten years (when the NW was still producing the newsletter in region). He has represented the region at several Recreation and Park, RV and other trade shows. Paul (and Wayne Roberts) worked tirelessly to establish a travel club in the Yakima area, a vision that finally was fulfilled last year with the effort of President Karen Lahey. Paul was a significant contributor in the construction of the regional library and handicap ramp. He is the only person to sleep in the library building! Paul’s efforts in AANR, AANR NW and Restful Haven/Mountaindale (where he held his basic membership for many years before moving to Hidden Springs) have had a significant impact on nude recreation. Paul has always been there when he was needed and continues to be an asset to the region and to promotepublic awareness for nudism. It is time the region recognizes Paul for his exceptional service to AANR and AANR NW and awards him its highest honor, the NW Hall of Fame Award. ** AANR-NW Annual Awards ———————————————————— Man of the Year – Dave Smith Woman of the Year – Theresa “T” Price Membership Increase – by percentage – Rogue Suncatchers Membership Increase – by count – Rogue Suncatchers Scholarship – Brea Capshaw President’s Award – Theresa “T” Price Newsletter Award – Landed Club – Kaniksu Ranch Newsletter Award – Non-landed Club – Hidden Springs Website Award – Landed Club – Lake Bronson Website Award – Non-landed Club – Montana Naturist Organization ============================================================ Copyright © 2013 American Association for Nude Recreation – Northwest, All rights reserved. January Update

Hi fellow nudists,

If you are going to be on the Big Nude Cruise, please stop by and say hi. My husband and I will be in cabin 2252. Also, there is going to be a NW Meet and Greet on our first day at sea from 1:30pm – 2:30pm. Be sure to come and meet friends and get back into contact with others from the Northwest. Other regions will be having their Meet and Greets at other times, which will be listed in the schedule.

Don’t forget, we are going to skinny dip together on July 13th. What a great way to celebrate Nude Recreation Week with our fellow nudists at TNS, as well as to get positive publicity! Encourage your club to participate.

Now for a more serious matter, I also have a challenge for you. AANR-NW membership is down 4.5%. Our percentage loss was the greatest of any of the regions. We need to find a way to turn this around. What can you do to help your club and AANR grow? Will you call some of your friends that no longer belong and urge them to come back? Do you have any ideas? If you do, bring them to your club boards. If it is something that the region can help with or if you want to share a great idea, send me an email. We want to stop this decline and we need your help to do it.

Naturally Yours, Karen Lahey president@aanr-nw.org ==============================================
